The difference between an average yacht photo and a good one usually comes down to timing more than equipment — knowing when the light works in your favor matters more than what camera you're using.

Golden hour — the hour before sunset — is the single best window for photos on the water. The light is warm and low, which flatters both people and the skyline behind them, and it avoids the harsh overhead shadows of a midday charter.
Angles that work
Shots from the bow looking back toward the skyline usually read better than shots facing open water — you want the city in frame, not just sea and sky. If you're after a specific landmark (Atlantis, the Marina towers, Ain Dubai), tell your captain early so the route can loop past it while the light's still good.
