Yacht Charter Etiquette and Rules on UAE Waters
None of this is complicated, but a few basics are worth knowing before you step aboard so the day goes smoothly for you and everyone else on the water.
Footwear
Most yachts ask guests to remove shoes or switch to soft-soled deck shoes before boarding — hard soles can scuff or damage the deck surface. We'll let you know the specific policy for your yacht when you book.
Alcohol and public conduct
UAE regulations around alcohol on the water are specific and vary by context — ask us directly when booking if this applies to your group, rather than assuming. We're happy to explain what's allowed for your specific charter.
Listening to your captain
The captain's calls on safety, weather and routing aren't optional suggestions — they're there for everyone's safety, and charters run more smoothly when guests treat crew instructions the same way they would on a flight.
Tipping crew
Not required, but appreciated if service was good — there's no fixed expectation, it's entirely at your discretion. Cash is the easiest way if you'd like to tip at the end of the charter.
